The Value of a College Minor

通过声明未成年人, you’ll have the opportunity to pursue interests that might lie outside of your major. Gaining extra knowledge in an area that interests you can also help you in your future career! Not only will your skills and knowledge be more well-rounded, but you’ll also prove to future employers that you’re willing to work hard and exceed their expectations.

  • THL 465: Christians and Ethics

Through an exploration of 道德ity and ethics in light of what Scripture teaches, this course will orient students to the main approaches, both traditional and contemporary, of non-biblical philosophical ethics as they learn how the Christian faith interacts with these approaches. The significance of the Lutheran confessional distinction between God's left and right hand rule will also be explored. Student research and presentations on contemporary ethical issues are usually included. 先决条件:CTHL 101 or CTHL 200) and junior standing, or consent of instructor.

This course will present the major concepts, theories and applications related to both the typical and atypical spiritual, 道德, 认知, 社会, and 情感 development across the lifespan in the context of local church ministry. Knowledge gained in this course lays a foundation for leadership of children's, 家庭, 青年, 成人, 特殊需要部.

  • CED 370: Children’s and Family Ministry

This course will examine and evaluate methods and materials appropriate for faith development and reflective of the physical, 精神, 社会, 情感, and spiritual needs of children aged birth through grade six. 课程评价, 设施, 政策, and procedures towards a comprehensive ministry to and with children and their families will be addressed, emphasizing the involvement of children along with their families into the total life of the church. A fieldwork component is required.

This course will examine the dynamics of 家庭 interaction from a systems perspective. An understanding of 家庭 systems theory will be applied to the historical, 社会学, 神学, and biblical contexts of 家庭 life and the church. Topics will include 家庭 formation, 家庭生活的过程, 家族病史, 非家庭, 危机评估.

This survey course will look at the topic of human sexuality with a foundation in Christian ethics guiding sexual conduct and the development of sexual behavior including gender identity, 性取向, 性解剖学, 避孕, 繁殖和生育, sexually transmitted diseases, 性障碍, 还有性偏离.

  • PSY 313: Develop精神 Psychology: Childhood

The development of physiological and psychological aspects of human growth will be traced from birth through childhood in this course through an examination of the theories and research evidence as well as methodological problems as they relate to the growth process. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing or above.

  • PSY 331: Marriage and the Family

Using a Christian approach to marriage, this course will study the 家庭 and its intimate environment including a discussion of courtship and role relationships within the 家庭 as a 社会 institution. An emphasis will be placed on the changing nature of the 家庭, 家庭问题, 家庭力量.

  • SOC 332: Child, Family and Community
  • 3

With an overview of the 社会ization process involving the young child in the larger cultural setting, this course will focus on 社会 institutions as 社会 agents including the 家庭, 学校, 同辈群体, 大众媒体, 以及社区结构. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing or above.
